Saturday, September 27
9:30-11:00 a.m.
1443 S. St. Mary's St.
The public is invited to a presentation by master naturalist and native plant expert Nicki Apostolow. A nature educator for over 20 years, with a degree in Park Management and a Masters in Education, she is the Director of Wild at Heart, and the Project Manager of Butterfly Learning Center. She will show us how to gather, save, and propagate seeds from plants at the end of their season.
Admission is free, but for a suggested donation of $5, you can take home your own newly-planted seeds in a temporary pot with high-quality soil. Pots and soil have been donated by Casa Verde Farms.
At this event, we will also be sharing our plans for the church yard. We have been working with award-winning landscape architects at Coral Studio, who happen to be our neighbors. They have helped us create a potential plan for making our property into something the entire community can enjoy. You will have an opportunity to provide feedback on the plans at the event.
Phase 1 of our improvement plan has already been achieved! At the event, we will cut the ribbon on our new nature play yard. The components were designed and created by Urban Tree Company, which repurposes fallen trees into furniture and play equipment.

We also have a spectacular new outdoor table crafted by V & F General Welding. It was constructed with reclaimed lumber from the Material Innovation Center of San Antonio’s Office of Sustainability. This project is being made possible by grants from the King William Association and the City of San Antonio’s Climate-Ready Neighborhoods program.
We also wish to thank the Good Acres Network, whose mission is “to connect San Antonio’s 3,000 acres of underused property owned by faith communities with neighborhood needs and opportunities, reimagining the land to support community flourishing.” They have provided unmeasurable support and inspiration during this project.
We are excited to share everything with you! There will be free parking at the event and overflow parking can be found on Eagleland.
